Recently, during the Rockport International Poetry Festival several things happened that filled me with happiness: my new friend the Palestinian-born poet Ashraf Fayadh, newly freed from a Saudi Arabian prison (his crime was writing poems) read beautifully (via Zoom) the opening poem from his new collection EPICRISIS. And one of the leading Fenway Press poets, Jay Featherstone was featured in a film by Henry Ferrini reading his new chapbook, VERMEER PAINTS MY MOTHER. Below is the video of Jay’s deeply moving reading of his poem, in which his haunting words are mixed with images from key paintings by Johannes Vermeer. OCTOBER 2022: JAY FEATHERSTONE’S LONG POEM “VERMEER PAINTS MY MOTHER” IS NOW AVAILABLE AS A CHAPBOOK. Click below to purchase: $10 includes shipping and handling.
